# Error 407 

> Error 407: Proxy Authentication Required

The `HTTP` `407` Proxy **Authentication** **Required** error response indicates that the request was unsuccessful due to a lack of valid authentication credentials for the proxy server.

Here are the steps we suggest when facing the error:

* Double-check your `user:pass` credentials in the [**Decodo Dashboard**](https://dashboard.decodo.com/welcome).
  * Try generating a new password if you cannot authenticate with proxy user credentials.
* If you use the Whitelisted IP authentication, check if you are connected to the same IP address.
