# Fair Usage Policy

> The Fair Usage Policy affects Dedicated ISP Proxies to maintain service consistency.

Multiple threads represent the number of sessions available at the same time.

* Each time you send a request through a proxy, it creates a session.
* If you send multiple requests at the same time, you are running multiple concurrent sessions.

<Note>
  Browsing webpages may generate multiple threads even with a single session to load various resources.
</Note>

## Default Thread Limitations

Your concurrent thread limit scales with the number of IPs on your subscription:

* **Default limit**: `100` concurrent threads per IP, until the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is reached.
* **After FUP is reached**: `1` concurrent thread per IP, for the remainder of the subscription period.

<Note>
  For example, a `200` IP subscription gets `20000` concurrent threads by default. Once FUP is triggered, that drops to `200` threads (`1` per IP) until the next subscription period starts.
</Note>

<Warning>
  ### Thread Limits per Proxy User

  The amount of limited threads is distributed equally among all proxy users you have.

  For example, if you have `200` IPs (giving you `20000` concurrent threads) and have `4` proxy users – each proxy user will have a limit of `5000` concurrent threads.
</Warning>

## Fair Usage Policy Triggers

To ensure fair use of services and maintain optimal performance for all customers, we apply the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for Dedicated ISP proxies when **both** of the following conditions are met:

1. Traffic **per individual IP** exceeds **`100GB`**, AND
2. Total traffic usage for a subscription period exceeds **`10TB`**.

<Note>
  ### How FUP Limitations Work

  Once your usage exceeds the traffic limits described above, we take measures to ensure fair usage across all users and reduce the number of concurrent sessions available for the remaining subscription period.

  **The dynamic threshold is calculated as `100GB` for every IP**. For example:

  1. If you have purchased `200` IPs, the FUP threshold will be `20TB` (`100GB` times `200`). Once this limit of `20TB` is reached and the fair usage policy applied, concurrent sessions will be reduced from `20000` threads (`100` threads per IP) to `200` threads ( `1` thread per IP).
  2. However, If you have purchased `10` IPs, the FUP limitations will only take affect if you exceed `10TB` of data usage.

  * The FUP limitations are reset after a new subscription period is started.
