# Limitations

> Free Proxies Limitations

Free Proxies are designed for testing and evaluating the Decodo proxy service. The plan is free of charge and comes with the following limits.

## Traffic Limit

* Free Proxies include **1 GB of traffic per month**.
* The limit **resets every month based on your activation date** - your renewal date depends on the day you activated the product.
* You **cannot purchase extra traffic**.

  ### When the traffic limit is reached

  Requests return a `407 `**error**. You can no longer route traffic through your Free Proxies until the next monthly reset. To keep going without waiting, consider upgrading to one of our paid proxy products.

## Thread Limit

Free Proxies allow up to **100 concurrent connections** (threads).

  ### When the thread limit is reached

  Requests return a **`429` error**. Reduce the number of simultaneous connections and retry.

<Note>
  Browsing webpages may generate multiple threads even with a single session to load various resources.
</Note>

## IP Limitations

* Your plan provides a fixed list of **10 IP addresses**, located in the **US**.
* These IPs **do not rotate** and remain assigned to you indefinitely.
* IPs **cannot be replaced or refreshed**.

## Product Limitations

With Free Proxies, the following actions are **not available**:

* Adding, purchasing, or renaming proxy users.
* Setting per-user traffic limits.
* Whitelisting IPs.
* Purchasing extra traffic.
* Replacing or refreshing IPs.
* Choosing a location (IPs are US-only).
* Cancelling the subscription (Free Proxies remain available on your account indefinitely).

  **Free Proxies are fully separate from paid products and can co-exist with any paid subscription you have.**
